Bronze - Sunbed Single Tans: First 48 Hours Do's & Don'ts

Right after your Bronze session, treat your skin gently and keep heat and sweat off it for the next 24 to 48 hours. We’ve had people tell us the Bronze bed can feel a little intense, even claustrophobic for some, so we’re big on comfort and smart pacing, especially in Phoenix heat. Skip hot showers, heavy workouts, swimming, and exfoliation for at least a day or two, moisturize early, and drink more water than you think you need.
The first 24–48 hours after tanning beds: the rules that keep color even
A Bronze sunbed single tan is quick, 14 minutes, and budget-friendly at $9. The aftercare is where you protect your result. In the first 24 hours, and often through 48 hours, your skin is more reactive to heat and friction, and it’s easier to end up uneven or irritated if you push it.
48-hour priority: Keep your skin cool and calm. Heat, sweat, and scrubbing are the fastest ways to lose that fresh color or create patchiness.
Do this right away
- Moisturize within a few hours with a gentle, fragrance-free lotion. Dry desert air in Phoenix can pull moisture fast, and dry skin tends to fade faster.
- If you shower, keep it lukewarm and quick. Use a mild cleanser and your hands, not a scrubby cloth.
- Pat dry. Rubbing with a towel can irritate skin and can make color look uneven.
- Wear loose, breathable clothes. Tight waistbands and leggings can trap heat and sweat.
Avoid these for at least 24–48 hours
- Hot showers, baths, saunas, steam rooms, hot yoga
- Hard workouts that lead to heavy sweating. If you have to move, go easy and keep it cool.
- Swimming pools and hot tubs. Chlorine and heat are a rough combo for skin.
- Exfoliating acids, scrubs, loofahs, and shaving with a fresh, sharp razor if your skin feels sensitive
- Heavy fragrance products directly after (perfume on the skin, strong body sprays). Let your skin settle first.
Days 3–7: keep the tan, don’t chase it (especially in Phoenix heat)
After the first couple of days, most people can get back to normal life. But here’s what we see all the time in North Phoenix, Deer Valley, and anywhere near Loop 101. A tan fades faster when your skin is dry and you’re sweating in the daytime heat. If you can, schedule your sun beds session for early morning or evening, then keep the rest of the day low-sweat.
Stick with moisturizing daily. It’s simple, but it’s the biggest difference-maker for keeping your color looking smooth instead of “dusty.” And be realistic about sun exposure. A tanning bed session is not sun protection. If you’ll be outside, use sunscreen and cover up when you can.
Comfort matters, too: One reviewer told us the Bronze bed’s lid felt “very very heavy” and “claustrophobic, ” and we’re glad they said something. If you ever feel uncomfortable in a bed, let us know. We’ll guide you to a different option so you can tan without feeling trapped.
If you’re also mixing in airbrush tanning or a spray tan before an event, keep the aftercare routines separate. A spray tan has its own rinse timing and product rules, so ask us and we’ll map out a plan that makes sense for your schedule.
Moisturizer, deodorant, and clothing: small choices that protect your Bronze tan
You don’t need a complicated routine. You need a consistent one. Our team keeps the salon and rooms very clean, and we want you to keep your skin just as calm at home so you hold onto that fresh color.
Moisturizer: Choose fragrance-free and lightweight. If it feels greasy or heavily perfumed, skip it the first day or two.
Deodorant and perfume: Give it a little time after your session before applying, especially if your underarms are sensitive. If you notice irritation, keep products simple for a day.
Clothing: Loose cotton and breathable fabrics help a lot right after tanning beds. Tight athletic wear can trap sweat and rub high-friction areas.
If you’re running errands in the Deer Valley area near Union Hills and 32nd Street or commuting around Loop 101, plan your Bronze session when you can keep cool afterward. Desert heat plus a rushed schedule is usually where people slip up and sweat too soon.
Redness, blistering, or “this feels off”: when we want you to reach out
A little warmth or mild pinkness can happen, especially if you’re new to tanning beds or you went a little too strong. What we don’t want you to ignore is significant redness, pain, swelling, or any blistering. Those are signs of overexposure and it’s time to get medical advice right away.
"Changing my review to 4 stars. I do not recommend the bronze beds as they have very very heavy lids that don't have anything but one setting which was claustrophobic, but the owner reached out to me and suggested I try a different one."

That’s exactly how we want you to handle it. If you feel uncomfortable, if you think your time was too much, or if you have questions about what bed to use next, tell us. Our owners and team are hands-on, and we’d rather adjust your plan than have you leave worried or unhappy.
Quick note for Phoenix-area skin: If you’re coming in from Scottsdale, Glendale, Peoria, Paradise Valley, or Cave Creek, your drive home might be the hottest part of your day. Keep the A/C on, drink water, and don’t sit in sweaty clothes.

Fast FAQ: Bronze sunbed single tans aftercare
How long should I wait to shower after a Bronze - Sunbed Single Tan?
We generally recommend waiting at least a few hours, then keeping your first shower lukewarm and quick. Avoid hot water and scrubbing for 24 to 48 hours so your skin stays calm and your color stays even.
Can I work out after a Bronze - Sunbed Single Tan?
It’s best to wait 24 hours before a heavy workout. If you have to exercise sooner, keep it light, stay cool, and change out of sweaty clothes quickly.
Will sweating ruin my sunbed tan from a single session?
Sweating won’t erase everything, but heavy sweat in the first day can irritate skin and make your tan look uneven, especially in high-friction areas. In Phoenix’s dry heat, sweat also tends to come with dehydration, which can make skin look dull faster. Hydrate and moisturize.
Can I swim or go in a hot tub after using a tanning bed?
We suggest waiting 24 to 48 hours. Hot tubs add heat and friction, and pools add chlorine, both of which can irritate skin and speed up fading.
What should I put on my skin right after a Bronze sunbed session?
A gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer is usually the best move. Keep it simple, drink water, and avoid strong exfoliants for a couple of days. If your skin feels irritated, treat it like sensitive skin and keep products minimal.
