A lot of our regulars use our red light therapy bed a few times a week and tell us they notice less inflammation. The most important red light therapy aftercare rule in Phoenix is simple: keep your skin clean, hydrated, and protected with SPF before any outdoor time, and hold off on harsh actives like retinol and chemical exfoliants for 24 to 72 hours. Our Unlimited Red Light Therapy Membership sessions are short at 10 minutes, but your skin still appreciates a little common-sense care in the dry heat.
0 to 48 hours: the red light therapy aftercare steps that actually matter
Red light therapy, also called photo bio-modulation, uses red and near-infrared light to support collagen, calm inflammation, and improve skin tone and texture. Most people leave feeling relaxed and “good, ” which we hear all the time. The aftercare is not complicated, but timing matters.
Quick checklist: gentle cleanse, moisturizer, SPF 30+ before sun exposure, and skip retinoids/AHAs/BHAs for 24 to 72 hours.
Immediately after (0 to 4 hours)
- Keep it simple. If your skin feels warm or a little flushed, let it cool naturally and avoid rubbing or scrubbing.
- Moisturize. Phoenix air is dry, and hydrated skin tends to look better and feel calmer after frequent sessions.
- Plan your outdoor time. If you are heading into the sun, apply a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ first. This is where people get tripped up in our climate.
Showering and skincare timing (24 to 48 hours)
You can shower after your session. We generally recommend keeping it lukewarm and using a gentle cleanser, especially if you are doing red light often with an unlimited membership. If you use retinol, AHAs, BHAs, or stronger acne products, give your skin 24 to 72 hours before you bring them back in. If you are not sure where your product falls on that scale, bring it in or tell us the name. We will help you sort it out quickly.
And yes, you can pair red light with other services. Plenty of our members do red light before tanning beds, sun beds, or a spray tan session, and we will talk you through spacing so your skin stays comfortable.
Your first week on unlimited sessions: keep results steady, not irritated
When people come in consistently, we hear the same themes. Less inflammation. Better overall comfort. More energy. Some members even mention their skin looks healthier, with small improvements in fine lines or old acne marks after a few weeks. That is exactly why aftercare matters with frequent visits. The goal is steady, comfortable consistency.
- Avoid piling on new actives: If you want to restart retinol or exfoliating acids, start with fewer nights per week and watch how your skin responds.
- Be smart about heat and sweat: Normal activity is fine. If you feel flushed, skip intense exercise for a few hours and cool the area. Phoenix heat can make “fine” turn into “irritated” fast.
- Respect the sun: Sunscreen is still non-negotiable. If you are driving in from Scottsdale, Glendale, Peoria, Paradise Valley, or Cave Creek, that windshield time counts as sun exposure too.
Scheduling tip we give our members: Unlimited sessions fit busy routines best when you avoid peak daytime heat. Early-morning or evening visits can feel better on the skin and make sunscreen timing easier.
Products we like after red light therapy: gentle, hydrating, boring (in a good way)
If you only do two things after red light therapy, make them these: moisturize and wear SPF. Hydration helps your skin look plumper and tends to keep frequent sessions comfortable. Sunscreen protects the glow you are working for, especially in North Phoenix where the sun is intense almost year-round.
Moisturizer
Look for a simple, fragrance-light moisturizer. If you run dry, apply it right after showering while skin is still slightly damp.
SPF 30+ broad-spectrum
Apply before outdoor exposure. Reapply if you are outside for long stretches. Sun safety is still the biggest driver of how your skin ages.
Pause strong actives
Retinol and chemical exfoliants usually wait 24 to 72 hours. If you are sensitive, give it the longer window.
If you are also doing airbrush tanning or a spray tan, tell us what day you are planning to do each. We will help you keep your skincare simple so your color and your skin both look their best.
If something feels “off, ” tell us fast. We take care of our people.
A little warmth or mild pinkness right after a session can happen, especially if you are new or you came in already dry. That usually settles quickly. What we do not want you to do is push through ongoing irritation.
- Reach out if redness, itchiness, or discomfort sticks around, or if your skin is getting more reactive as you increase frequency.
- Tell us what skincare you used in the last 72 hours (especially retinol or exfoliating acids) and how often you have been coming in.
- If you are pairing red light with tanning beds, sun beds, or spray tan services, we will help you space things so you feel good leaving here.
"This place, these people, the tan I have the luxury of wearing now, all beyond exceptional. I was pleasantly surprised by their honesty."
